Dun Laoghaire

Dún Laoghaire is a seaside town south of Dublin city centre. Once a major port entry from Britain, it is now a vibrant town with many shops, schools and activities.

Shopping
There are many shops to explore in the town, from Penneys to Saffron and Sapphire. There is also the Dún Laoghaire Shopping Centre where you can find shops the Art & Hobby Shop, Tiger Store, Dubray Books and the Pen Place.

Dún Laoghaire is also filled with many cafes, restaurants, and pubs to enjoy like Starbucks, Costa, Nando’s, Two Beans, the Giddy Goose Cafe, Itsa…, The Hen House, Harry’s Café Bar, The Natural Bakery, The Sunshine Café, The Forty Foot Bar & Grill, Milano, Gourmet Food Parlor, The Purty Kitchen and many more.

The town also has Tesco, SuperValu, Centra and Spar for food shopping.

Transport
Dún Laoghaire is well served by public transport, with its own DART station and by the Dublin Bus routes 7, 7n, 46, 46n, 59, 63, 75 and 111. There is also the Dún Laoghaire Ferry port.

There are various schools and colleges in Dún Laoghaire like Dominican Primary School, The Harold School, St. Joseph’s National School,  Turning Point Institute, Dún Laoghaire College of Further Education Institute, and the Institute of Art, Design and Technology. (iadt)

Among the many amenities are  dlr Lexicon Library, People’s Park, IMC Dun Laoghaire, the Royal Irish Yacht Club and St. Michael’s Hospital.

For cultural activities, you can visit the James Joyce Tower and Museum, the National Maritime Museum of Ireland, or the Dún Laoghaire Art Gallery. The harbour is also one of the largest in the country with two piers, West Pier and East Pier that many people stroll across daily.
